Yannis Thavoris graduated with a diploma in Architecture from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He then studied European Scenography at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, obtaining a Master of Arts in 1997. 

He was the overall winner of the 1997 Linbury Prize for Stage Design.

Yannis is based in London and has worked in opera and theatre around the world.
